Every Adventure Deserves an Easy Start: BLV Launches GoodMaps

There’s a reason travelers across the St. Louis region keep choosing MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. It’s not just the affordable parking or the nonstop flights to Orlando, Las Vegas and the Gulf Coast. It’s the feeling – that moment you pull into the lot, stroll through the doors and think, this is how flying should be.

Now, BLV is making that feeling even better.

We’re proud to introduce GoodMaps, an intelligent indoor navigation platform that puts the entire terminal at your fingertips – literally. Whether you’re a seasoned BLV regular or stepping through our doors for the first time, GoodMaps ensures your next adventure starts without a single wrong turn.

The Easiest Airport Just Got Easier

BLV has always been the antidote to big city airport stress. Short lines. Friendly faces. A terminal designed around you, not around chaos. GoodMaps takes that philosophy further by giving every traveler – regardless of need, language or experience – the tools to navigate our recently upgraded terminal with total confidence.

Using advanced LiDAR mapping and AI-powered camera-based positioning accurate to within one meter, GoodMaps works through your smartphone. No beacons bolted to walls. No QR codes taped to columns. No extra hardware whatsoever. Just open the free app and follow turn-by-turn directions to your gate, the café (Bloody Mary before your beach flight, anyone?), restrooms, baggage claim or anywhere else in the terminal.

It’s the kind of technology you’d expect at a sprawling international hub, delivered with the ease and warmth of an airport where the staff know your name.

Built for Everyone Who Flies

At BLV, we believe convenience shouldn’t have conditions. GoodMaps was designed from the ground up alongside the American Printing House for the Blind to ensure that indoor navigation works for everyone:

  • Blind and low-vision travelers receive rich, detailed audio guidance – every turn, every landmark, every destination described clearly.
  • Deaf and hard-of-hearing passengers benefit from on-screen visual directions and AR overlays.
  • Travelers with reduced mobility get automatic step-free routing to accessible paths – essential for wheelchair users, travelers with injuries and parents maneuvering strollers through the terminal.
  • Neurodiverse individuals can follow structured, low-stimulus routes that reduce the sensory overwhelm of busy travel environments.
  • Non-English speakers navigate in their preferred language. GoodMaps supports more than 25 languages, including Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, German and many more.

For an airport serving a region as diverse as the Metro East and Greater St. Louis – with a major military community at Scott Air Force Base just next door – multilingual, fully accessible navigation isn’t a luxury. It’s the right thing to do.

Plan Your Adventure Before You Pack Your Bags

Here’s something travelers love: you don’t even need to be at BLV to start exploring. Through GoodMaps Web, interactive digital maps of our terminal are available right from your browser with no app download required.

Find them embedded on FlyMidAmerica.com, pull them up on your phone from the couch or share a link with a nervous first-time flyer in your family. GoodMaps Web lets you preview the layout, find your gate’s general area, locate dining and services and arrive at BLV with a plan already in place. As one traveler recently told us: “We’re excited about the new flight option. It makes planning trips so much easier.” GoodMaps makes planning easier still.

Growing With BLV

BLV is in the middle of a major growth chapter. While the airport already accommodates U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations within its existing General Aviation Facility, construction is underway on a new 25,277‑square‑foot General Aviation Facility and Federal Inspection Station designed to meet CBP requirements and support future international commercial service. Passenger numbers have also been climbing steadily, with a 25.3% year-over-year increase in 2025, while new Allegiant routes continue to expand the map of nonstop destinations.

Through GoodMaps Studio, our operations team can update the terminal’s digital maps in real time. Construction zones shift? Updated instantly. New gate assignments? Reflected immediately. A new restaurant opens in the upgraded terminal? Travelers find it the same day. This isn’t a static solution – it’s a living map that evolves as BLV evolves.

And it’s worth noting airports that implement GoodMaps consistently see reduced wayfinding inquiries to staff, improved passenger flow and increased engagement with retail and dining options. When travelers aren’t stressed about finding their gate, they spend more time enjoying the amenities around them more comfortably.

What Makes GoodMaps Different

Traditional indoor navigation often requires expensive infrastructure: Bluetooth beacons, sensor networks and hardware maintenance. GoodMaps requires none of it. The platform’s patented camera-based positioning technology uses images your phone’s camera captures in real time, matched against a detailed 3D map built from LiDAR scans of the entire terminal.

The result is sub-meter accuracy that adapts as you move, re-routes when you take a detour and confirms when you’ve arrived. It’s the same level of intelligence you get from outdoor navigation apps, finally brought indoors where GPS can’t reach.

GoodMaps is already live in more than 35 airports across 15 states and 8 countries, having quintupled its airport footprint since early 2025. BLV joins a growing network that includes Portland International, Louisville Muhammad Ali International and Bradley International, among many others.

Your Next Adventure Starts Here

That’s always been our promise at BLV. Whether you’re a snowbird escaping to the Gulf Coast, a family headed to Orlando for the trip of a lifetime or a first-timer discovering that a better way to fly has been right here in Mascoutah all along – your adventure should start the moment you walk through our doors, not the moment you figure out where to go.
