Infrastructure Projects
New Passenger Terminal – A 41,000-square-foot addition to the existing terminal was completed in June 2023, delivering an expanded departure lounge, nursing area, service animal relief area, new boarding bridges, more concession options and additional accommodations for people with disabilities. The $30 million project also includes improvements to the original terminal that should be completed in early 2024.
Taxiway Lima – Work to add nearly 3,100 linear feet of new Taxiway Lima pavement and a new Taxiway Bridge over Crooked Creek was also completed in August 2023. The $37.7 million project will provide airfield access to a future aviation business park on the south side of MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, where the new Boeing Production Facility already under construction will be the first tenant. The project also included drainage improvements, a new perimeter security fence, the extension of the existing perimeter road and improvements to the electrical and access control.
Boeing Manufacturing Facility – Boeing completed its $200 million, 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in March 2024, marking a major milestone in the airport’s growing aviation business park. The facility initially supports approximately 150 employees, with capacity to expand to as many as 300 as production demand increases. The site is dedicated to manufacturing the MQ-25 Stingray — the U.S. Navy’s first operational, carrier based unmanned aerial refueling aircraft — which successfully completed its first taxiway test in January 2026.
MetroLink Expansion – The new MetroLink extension to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport — which was estimated to be a $97 million investment — is entering its final phase. With construction completed, system testing is now underway and revenue service is expected to begin in summer 2026. The 5.2-mile expansion extends MetroLink service from the Shiloh-Scott Transit Center to a new station directly adjacent to the airport terminal, offering seamless rail access for passengers, employees and tenants while linking MidAmerica St. Louis Airport and St. Louis Lambert International Airport through a single light rail system.
General Aviation Facility/Federal Inspection Station – The new 25,277-square-foot Federal Inspection Station represents the latest strategic infrastructure investment at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, supporting continued passenger growth and operational efficiency. The facility includes an embedded General Aviation Facility that is slated to open in spring 2026 and be capable of accommodating international flights of up to 20 passengers. The Federal Inspection Station remains on track for completion in summer 2027, positioning the airport to expand future international service opportunities.
